史跡 田中城下屋敷 > The Villa of Tanaka Castle
Abouto 500 years ago,under orders of the feudal load or Daimyo Imagawa,the Issiki family expanded its land,building a castle.This is said to be the beginning of Tanaka Castle.After that the Issikis surrendered the castle to Daimyo Takeda.
At the beginning of the Meiji period,becaus of the policy of the Meiji Restoration,Tanaka castle was destroyed and the buildings and the land were sold to ordinary people.
Some of original building were donated to Fujieda City when the reconstruction of the villa garden was carried out(
from 1992 to 1996).It is very rare that the original buildings have remained until today,making them precious cultural properties with high historical value.
